Security man dies of gunshot wounds after being refused treatment

The United Kingdom (UK)-bound security guard was rushed to a hospital, where he was refused treatment over failure to produce a police report.

Cyril Igiebor, a member of the Edo State Security Network, who recently purchased his flight ticket to travel to the UK after securing a five-year work visa, has been shot dead.

The 28-year-old breathed his last after his trigger-happy colleague, Moses Isimor, shot him.

It was gathered that the deceased was accidentally shot at a solemn service of song organised for a burial ceremony held at No. 5 Eheneden Lane, off Ehenede Street, off Ekehuan Road, Uzebu Quarters, Benin City, Edo State.

At the burial ceremony that held on Friday, 20 October, 2023, Isimor was among a team of vigilante men deployed from Upper Ekehuan axis, to join that of Uzebu area, of which the victim was a member.

Eyewitnesses recounted that when the team from Upper Ekehuan arrived at the burial ceremony, the trigger-happy vigilante operative engaged in sporadic shooting apparently to announce their presence, hitting the victim on his arm and chest.

Operatives of a nearby private medical facility where the victim was rushed to for help allegedly demanded for a police report before giving him medical attention.

Igiebor, however, died a few hours after being taken to a government-owned hospital.

The suspect is now reportedly cooling off in police custody following his arrest.
