Akpata beaten at his polling unit by PDP’s Ighodalo

Akpata came second at his polling unit as Ighodalo recorded a shocking win.

Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party candidate in the ongoing Edo governorship election, has lost at his polling unit to his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, Asue Ighodalo.

The Saturday, September 21, 2024 election got off to a slow start in several parts of the South-South State due to the late arrival of INEC officials and election materials caused by an early morning heavy downpour.

However, Akpata’s polling unit at Ward 06, Oredo Local Government Area was one of the places where the exercise started on time.

Results from the polling unit showed that the Labour Party candidate scored 32 votes, trailing Ighodalo who polled 41 votes.

Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) came third with 19 votes.
