The Sokoto State Police Command has intensified security measures across the state ahead of Eid-el-Fitr, assuring residents of a safe and orderly celebration.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, conveyed the assurance in a statement on Wednesday through the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i.
He congratulated Muslim faithful and urged residents to celebrate peacefully.
“The Sokoto State Police Command felicitates with Muslim faithfuls and all residents on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr. Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and joyous celebration,” the statement read.
Rufa’i said Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders have been directed to intensify patrols and intelligence-driven operations across the state.
Police personnel will have increased visibility at strategic locations before, during, and after the festivities to deter criminal activities and boost public confidence.
Special attention will be given to offenses that typically rise during festive periods, including phone snatching, pick-pocketing, and traffic violations. Parents and guardians were also urged to monitor their children closely to prevent disorderly conduct.
Residents were further advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly through the nearest police station or the Command’s emergency line.
The police said a large number of personnel have been deployed across the state in collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful celebration, reassuring residents of their readiness to protect lives and property throughout the Sallah period.
