The teenager will spend three years in a facility to complete his senior secondary school education.
An Area Court in Ilorin on Tuesday ordered Emmanuel Jolayemi, 17, to spend three years in a correctional facility over drug abuse.
The presiding judge, AbdulQadir Umar, gave the order after the juvenile’s brothers David and Joshua told the court their brother had a drug addiction problem.
They prayed the court to allow their brother remain in the facility to undergo reform.
Umar said that considering the rate at which the juvenile had been exposed to different hard drugs, there was need for him to be properly reformed and enlightened.
The court therefore, ruled that the teenager should spend three years in a facility to complete his senior secondary school education.
Earlier, the juvenile’s brothers told the court that their brother started taking drugs while he was in junior secondary school in Osun State.
The juvenile promised to stop taking drugs and stop keeping bad friends. He also pleaded to be enrolled in a skill acquisition class in the facility he would be kept in.
